Palikij and other students are investigating the navigational abilities of bees within the periphery of the hive.
Ursa Major, or the Great Bear, is home to the Big Dipper, which is not a constellation, but an asterism, or a distinctive group of stars. Ursa Major can be viewed in the Northern Hemisphere all year long.
Also known as the Seven Sisters or Messier 45, the Pleiades is a star cluster. It is in the constellation Taurus.
Orion, "the hunter," is a very prominent constellation because it is on the celestial equator and therefore can be seen from anywhere in the world.
This spiral galaxy, named IC342, is about 11 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Camelopardalis.
The Iris Nebula, a nebula 1,400 light-years away from earth, is what is called a reflection nebula, meaning it shines by the light it reflects from the brightest star in its center. It is located in the constellation Cepheus.
The Andromeda Galaxy is also known as Messier 31 is a spiral galaxy about 2.5 million light-years away. It is the nearest spiral galaxy to our home galaxy, the Milky Way.

Artist Jacob Allsbrooks, Lawrence, paints with acrylics Monday evening at Sanders Mound Vista overlooking Clinton Lake. Allsbrooks was painting a cartoonish interpretation of a scene he had witnessed between a bird and a fish.
